Canan Marasligil
this collage takes as starting point an old passport of mine, which shows my profession as a ‘worker’s daughter’ and asks you to ‘look at the photograph’ instead of describing my features, in order to question identity and the meaning of home. by deconstructing myself through a self-portrait, and keeping the two languages: Turkish and English, printed on the passport as a narrative, i am trying to show that identity can be fluid and the concept of home always in movement.
The piece is mixed media, including paper, image transfer, photography and pressed flower.
