Bølgene-Waves – a collaboration with Hannah Summers.
The poem was created using words from English, Norwegian, Scottish Gaelic and Shetlandic, revolving around the waves, voyage and the north. The piece was organically developed through sending fragments back and forth via WhatsApp. Hannah tried to translate Norwegian without having any knowledge about the language, and Silje tried to translate Scottish Gaelic and Shetlandic by associations. Delving into the different ways of translating and/or pronouncing words is the essence of the work.
